October Unemployment Data for Palm Beach County

CareerSource Palm Beach County Region Unemployment Data for October 2024 (Not Seasonally Adjusted) 

The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Palm Beach County region (Palm Beach County) was 3.5 percent in October 2024. This rate was 0.2 percentage point greater than the region's year ago rate of 3.3 percent. The region's October 2024 unemployment rate was equal to the state rate of 3.5 percent. The labor force was 779,772, down 6,709 (-0.9 percent) over the year. There were 27,449 unemployed residents in the region.

Palm Beach County

•    In October 2024, nonagricultural employment in the West Palm Beach-Boca Raton-Delray Beach MD was 703,700, an increase of 8,300 jobs (+1.2 percent) over the year.
•    The Construction (+4.3 percent); Government (+4.0 percent); Education and Health Services (+2.8 percent); and Leisure and Hospitality (+0.3 percent) industries grew as fast or faster in the metro area than statewide over the year.
•    The West Palm Beach-Boca Raton-Delray Beach MD had the third highest annual job growth compared to all the metro areas in the state in the Government (+2,600 jobs) industry.
•    The West Palm Beach-Boca Raton-Delray Beach MD had the third fastest annual job growth rate compared to all the metro areas in the state in the Government (+4.0 percent) industry.
•    The industries gaining jobs over the year were Education and Health Services (+3,300 jobs); Government (+2,600 jobs); Construction (+1,900 jobs); Other Services (+800 jobs); Leisure and Hospitality (+300 jobs); and Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+100 jobs).
•    The industries losing jobs over the year were Professional and Business Services (-300 jobs); Information (-200 jobs); Manufacturing (-100 jobs); and Financial Activities (-100 jobs).
