Palm Beach County's Unemployment Rate Holds Steady at 3.3% Amid Robust Job Growth in Key Industries

West Palm Beach, Fla. (April 19, 2024) Palm Beach County's unemployment rate remains unchanged at 3.3 percent for three consecutive months, mirroring the rate recorded in January and February 2024, according to the latest data released today by CareerSource Palm Beach County and FloridaCommerce (all numbers not seasonally adjusted).

  • Nonagricultural employment in Palm Beach County reached 700,600 in March 2024, marking an increase of 9,900 jobs (+1.4 percent) over the year.

  • Several industries in Palm Beach County experienced faster growth rates compared to statewide figures: Education and Health Services (+6.2 percent), Construction (+5.4 percent), Government (+4.9 percent), and Manufacturing (+3.3 percent).

  • Palm Beach County had notable achievements in job growth rates, particularly in the Government (+4.9 percent) and Construction (+5.4 percent) industries, ranking highest and second highest among metro areas in the state, respectively.

Job growth/loss by industry sector:  Palm Beach County saw job growth in key industries like education/health services, government, construction, and trade/transportation/utilities. However, sectors like professional business services experienced a significant decline.

Julia Dattolo Named Toni Jennings Workforce Development Professional of the Year by Florida Economic Development Council (FEDC)

Julia Dattolo, President and CEO of CareerSource Palm Beach County, has been named the Toni Jennings Workforce Development Professional of the Year by the Florida Economic Development Council (FEDC). "I am truly honored to receive the Toni Jennings Workforce Development Professional of the Year award," Ms. Dattolo expressed. "It's a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team at CareerSource Palm Beach County. This recognition inspires us to continue our mission of creating pathways to prosperity for all."

Ms. Dattolo's strategic initiatives fostered a robust jobs pipeline, securing nearly $12 million in grants for job training and educational support, while spearheading initiatives like the Statewide Career Pathways Model and the Statewide virtual services, ensuring better accessibility and integration of workforce development and education statewide. Additionally, Julia appointed a group of local leaders to an education and industry consortium, facilitating collaboration to align educational programming with local industry needs.

As a recognized leader in workforce development, CareerSource Palm Beach County's initiatives have yielded substantial employment gains, engaged hundreds of employers, and provided extensive support services to residents across the county.
