Palm Beach County's Unemployment Rate Rises Amid Seasonal Fluctuations

West Palm Beach, Fla. (July 19, 2024) Palm Beach County's unemployment rate rose to 3.5% in June 2024, up from 2.9% in May 2024, likely due to seasonal fluctuations, according to the latest data released today by CareerSource Palm Beach County and FloridaCommerce (all numbers not seasonally adjusted).

  • Overall Growth: Nonagricultural employment in the metro area increased by 13,600 jobs (a growth rate of 2.0%) over the year, reaching a total of 695,000 jobs.
  • The Construction industry experienced the highest annual growth rate at 7.9%.
  • Manufacturing also saw significant growth, adding 700 jobs to tie for the second-highest annual growth among all metro areas in the state.

Job growth/loss by industry sector:  Palm Beach County saw notable job growth in several sectors, including Education and Health Services, Construction, and Government, while Information and Professional Business Services sectors experienced job losses.
